Upcoming Exhibition February 15th- April 2020 BUNBURY

I am very pleased to announce that my work has been selected for the South West Times 2020 show at Bunbury Regional Art Gallery. This will be the first showing of my recent drawing works, it is also my first time being selected for a curated exhibition in Western Australia.

There will be 5 of my drawings on the walls. The works come from a series I created last year whilst convalescing on my couch from an ACL reconstruction. The drawings explore my love of line work, fables and the environment I live in. All drawings were created on an IPad with an Apple Pencil using Adobe Draw.

After Much Talk. A drawn story, set in a small seaside hamlet, where tea is taken with the weather. By Jenny Barr 2019

Here are a selection of drawings from the 'After Much Talk' series I have created over the last few months. The flooring, the tea cups, the Sanderson print furniture are all original features from the 1970's fibro shack I moved to in December 2018. There are currently 15 drawings with more in progress.

The story begins with the much anticipated arrival of a great swell, everyone has been talking about it for days, watching and waiting for its final showing hoping it is a source of immense wildness and play.

My drawings aim to follow the idea of the wild, which we live with, or shelter from, inside our domesticated creations.

"this juxtaposition of domestic frame and wild/violent elements is perfect" Miriam Wei Wei Lo, Poet.

I live in a small surf obsessed seaside hamlet called Gracetown, in the south west of Western Australia.  In April 2019 after a few short months trialling the Shark Smart Alarm and Tagging program the first great white was caught on the smart drum line, measuring 4.5m long- same length as our kitchen- so I call her April and when the beachside alarms go off I can hear them in the house. ‘after much talk’ swells come and go but for one wave…By JBarr

Quite a few swells have passed since this drawing series was started. Each swell has its own character and I look forward to each ones arrival and the weather they bring . All drawings have been done based on my original 1977 fibre shack located in Gracetown, Western Australia. Thanks xjen
