Noel McKenna is one of my favourite Australian artists. He is based on the east coast of Australia. What I love is his thinking. He is humorous and inciteful and an amazing drawer (or I could use the fancier term draughtsman). He taught at my art school on the top floor but I never got him. He gave the students a list of absurd and commonplace ideas and said draw! I got the intense abstract minimalists on the bottom floor who made us peer deeply into the painted surface. I hope Thorpe owns this painting.
